Willis Palms Oasis
Very close to Palm Springs desert is a hike named Herman's Trail, which is relatively easy. It is about 11km/7miles long with a 1,200 feet/350 meter climb. A very interesting feature of this hike is the Oasis in the middle of the desert. The hike starts very close to the city of Thousand Palms and the little San Bernandino Mountains are visible as we approach the hike. They have a very peculiar shape that shows a lot of folds or creases. In the middle of mountains and desert

San Jacinto Mountain (mis)Adventure
In October 2019, I decided to hike with two of my friends the "cactus to clouds" hike in Palm Springs, California, which my friend called the most difficult hike he knew of. I was not convinced. We started the hike behind the library

Three years ago, I had discovered the Cloud’s Rest hike, which is at an even higher elevation than Half Dome and had hiked it with a couple of friends. It was quite a grueling hike, culminating at almost 10,000 feet in height, nearly 2

Ruck!
I don't have the capability to carry. Twenty two years ago, I went to climb Mt. Whitney with several friends and each of us carried tents, pots and pans etc., but I struggled and gave up the summit climb. For Machu Picchu or Kilimanjaro hikes, I hired porters. For the Aconcagua hike, I hired a porter to carry my gear. What's more, I also put all my clothes in their sack. Walking without enough layers, I caught the wind, developed altitude sickness and had to be helicoptered o
