Founded in the year 815AD, the 11th temple in the pilgrimage is named Fujidera, which means Wisteria.

It is surrounded by a dense forest and looks very serene. The Wisteria was in full bloom, as I was lucky to be visiting during the month of their glory.

The temple was the gateway to the start of the pathway to the 12th temple, Shosan-ji, which was up the hill, needing a six hour hike, including a 4000 feet vigorous climb.

I had decided to continue seeing other parts of the Japanese Shikoku island and visit temples that were close to the other places I wanted to visit. I decided to walk to the Kamojima train station to go to another city named Kochi, which was highly rated for its scenic beauty and rich history.

The train ride was almost 2.5 hours and went through scenic mountains, valleys and rivers.

Right outside the Kochi station was a tram and people holding Japan Rail pass could get on board. I used it to get on to the popular historical landmark named Harimaya bashi described at the link.

As it was close to lunchtime. I started walking to Herome market, which featured many restaurants offering different types of food all gathered in one place.

The place with the maximum number of people waiting in line was serving Tuna smoked right in front of you as seen in the video below.

Tomorrow it will be visiting Kochi spots!

Great to see your adventures in Shikoku! We will be there in a few weeks and looking forward to cycling Shimanamikaido again, rated as the most scenic cycling route in Japan.
